Louis Rubenfeld

I moved to Massachusetts from New York in 1971 to take a position as an agent with American Program Bureau, the world's largest Lecture Management Agency, representing over 400 famous personalities. In July, 1975 I became Vice President of Starensier, Inc. a Textile Manufacturer with factories in Newburyport and the Mainland of China. In 1986, I purchased Starensier and became its President until my retirement in March, 2002. I currently serve on 5 non-profit boards of directors. My affiliations are: Board of Directors Newburyport Chamber of Commerce 7 years and Former Chairman. Chairman, of the Chambers Special Events Committee, member Newburyport Economic Development Committee and Finance Committee. Chairman, Newburyport Community Foundation Board of Directors, Anna Jaques Community Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, Co-Chairman, 2006 Bahama Beach Party Gala. Newburyport Firehouse Center For The Arts Board of Directors, member of its Kentucky Derby Party fundraiser and Strategic Planning Committees. Jeanne Geiger Women's Crisis Center Board of Directors. Corporator, Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank. Anna Jaques Hospital E-Health Collaborative Privacy and Security Council and member Newburyport Community Council, member, Dalton Club and 2007 Co-Chairman of Hawaiian Luau Fundraiser for Anna Jaques Hospital. Proceeds to raise money for the purchase of Digital Mammography equipment. Co-Chairman 2008 "Safari by the Sea" fundraiser raising money for surgical services.

As you can see I have remained busy since my retirement in 2002. I felt compelled to give back to my community which has been so good to me as my adopted city. My meetings generally begin at 7:30am and am accustomed to rising at 5am, since my days in manufacturing we began at 6am. Secondly, I am not much of a golfer or card player and needed to keep busy, so what better way to do it than community service.

My younger brother Michael passed away in June 2006 and mother Dottie, whom so many of my classmates remember passed away at the age of 90 on April 4th, 2008, just about 2 months prior to my marriage to Cyndi Barry on July 19th, my significant other for the past 5 1/2 years. We were married at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in New Castle, New Hampshire, one of the Grand Old Hotels in America on the hottest day of the summer.

Cyndi and I so look forward to the 50th reunion to see my classmates, trade remembrances of years gone by and to honor the memory of those who cannot be with us.

Best regards,

Louis Rubenfeld
